APR       Moros y cristianos (moors and Christians) - fight between the moors and christians. Alicante
       
APR/MAY   Fiestas y Romeria - pilgrimage to a shrine of the virgin. Andalucia

MAY 
      May crosses - celebrates the arrival of spring. Murcia, Granada,Cordoba

JUN       Bonfires of Saint John - is celebrated in towns and cities around Alicante. Alicante
       
AUG       Tamborrada - drumming continues for 12 hours in the towns of Mula and Moratalla.  Murcia
        
AUG       La Tomatina - the tomato fight where everyone gets to throw tomatoes at each other for an hour, shops and business' cover up their frontages for protection against the mess of lorry loads of squashed tomatoes. Valencia

DEC
       Noche Buena (christmas eve) - this is a good night and not for sleeping everyone celebrates throughout the night with friends and family.

DEC       Noche Vieja (new years eve) - when the clock strikes midnight a grape should be eaten on each stroke for luck for the following year. All Provinces
